From the programme note...
How should you not play wind instruments? Winds are not a drum kit, they should not be knocked or hitted. Well ... unless someone cannot behave in other way. Winds cannot swim, they must not be put in water. But if you want it so much, it's a bit allowed. Winds are not a telephone, there is no need to talk to them. But shouting into doesn't hurt them, they won't become deaf, though. Winds are not hair, they don't need a dryer. Although this has not been proven, yet. Winds are not cheeks, they are not used for smacking. What a strange idea to smack the French horn, anyway! ... And now imagine such a concert where you decide what else the Winds are supposed to "do not". A concert in which you also become wind players. Such a concert is just around the corner. Welcome.
The piece presents the expressive and articulation diversity of wind instruments. It teaches not only the recognition of their characteristic sound, but also different, sometimes very distant from traditional ways of extracting sounds from them.
The educational value of the piece is, above all, the conscious perception of sound phenomena by children and associating these phenomena with the instrument-articulation pair. We get to know the extraordinary sound possibilities of individual instruments, we play with sophisticated sonoristic experiments, and by combining these extraordinary sounds we experience their form-forming uses creating an interactive composition. The concert is mainly intended for children aged 7-12.
